Entwine
There is a metaphorical red string of fate that is said to be an invisible thread, connecting those whose paths are destined to meet. The thread can stretch, get tangled, but it can never break. In my life I have been greatly impacted by what I consider to be my own fated encounters. For my exhibition titled “Entwine,” I explore the theme of fate. The central focus centers on the idea of interconnectedness by intertwining multiple stories to create a larger narrative. My work explores this through the use of multimedia, utilizing both photography and sculpture through fiber arts. My art showcases multiple subjects encompassed by a crocheted chord in different contexts. This chord intertwines and connects each subject to each other. This series of film photographs seeks to showcase the grand expansiveness of human connection within the confines of personal existence. We are all connected.
